GILBERT, Ariz. -- Spectrum Elementary is 3TV's first "Cool School" of the year. The school went from a B rating to an A.

3TV's Tess Rafols talked to the principal, Sharon Boomer, about the achievement.

"We are really very proud of our students and teachers," Boomer said. "We work with individual students, looking at what their needs are, focusing on the Arizona standards, so we know what they need support in and what's they have already mastered."

Boomer has plan to keep that A rating.

"We're going to be working really hard," she said. "We have student trackers for each student so we can really monitor where they are almost weekly."

Spectrum Elementary, a K-6 school that opened in 2003, serves more than 800 students.
