PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- Authorities say the body of a woman last seen in Camp Verde five years ago has been found in Texas.
Yavapai County sheriff's detectives last week located the remains of Kristal Forest, 65, in the desert outside of El Paso, Texas.
Sheriff's officials said Robert Reed, 60, was indicted on a second-degree murder charge last year for killing Forest even though her body hadn't been found. He pleaded guilty last month.
Reed was allowed to use an Internet mapping program and showed detectives an area outside of El Paso where he recalled leaving her body. Law enforcement in Texas went to the area and found human remains, which are believed to be those of Forest. A DNA comparison has been ordered to confirm the identity of the remains.
At the time of her March 2009 disappearance, Forest was in the process of moving from Cottonwood to Austin, Texas.
Reed allegedly was helping Forest with her move and her empty trailer was found at a Las Cruces, New Mexico, storage yard in April 2009.
Forest had two Labradors with her when she left Arizona and they have never been found. Reed told detectives that "they ran off." The sheriff's office is seeking information about what happened to the dogs.
