PHOENIX -- Volunteers from a variety of different businesses came together to spruce up a U.S. Vets Inc. building, donating supplies and hours in the heat to renovate the veterans' aid center.

More than 60 people came out to work on the building by painting it, redecorating it and taking care of some landscaping. The event was organized by Rebuilding Together, and it was a success, according to the group's Jeremiah Churchill.

"This is awesome," Churchill said. "We do this all the time, so this is a normal day for us, but it is great to see volunteers out in the community helping out like this. Not easy work today."

One volunteer described the conditions as "ridiculously hot," but said he was happy to be working to help veterans.
