Day 5 of Cardinals CampPosted: Updated:
Day 5 of Arizona Cardinals training camp Tuesday.
As the team awaits the potential return of John Abraham and perhaps a highly anticipated Patrick Peterson contract extension, Bruce Arians had his team in full pads for the second consecutive day.
The afternoon practice dominated for the most part by the defense.
Offensively Jaron Brown got behind the defense for a long touchdown pass but this way a practice where Todd Bowles defense shined.
The secondary and linebackers came up with multiple interceptions against Carson Palmer and Stanton.
Usually in NFL training camps the defense is ahead of the offense and the Cardinals appear to be no different.
Bowles’ defense swarmed the middle of the field and consistently got their hands on the football.
The interception of the day came courtesy rookie first round draft pick Deone Bucannon who made an impressive one-handed interception.
The Cardinals return to the practice field Wednesday for an afternoon practice beginning at 2pm.
It is highly unlikely the team will be in full pads for the third straight day.
Camp note: Center Lyle Sendlein will miss approximately three week with a calf injury suffered in Monday’s practice. Cornerback Antonio Cromartie will be out 3-5 days with a pectoral injury.
