PHOENIX -- A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision in which he and another driver reportedly ran the stop signs at 16th Street and Cloud Road in north Phoenix on Sunday.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office responded to the collision at about 11:45 a.m.

According to MCSO spokesman Joaquin Enriquez, Michael Tobber was riding a motorcycle westbound on Cloud Road when he collided with a northbound vehicle. The collision occurred in the intersection, which has four-way stop signs.

The driver, Joan Brown, told deputies that she ran the stop sign and hit the motorcycle. She said the motorcyclist also ran the stop sign.

A witness also reported that both drivers ran the stop signs.

Enriquez said evidence at the scene supported the statements.

Tobber sustained serious injuries and was flown to John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital.

The collision is still under investigation.
