CBP officers assigned to the Port of Lukeville seized two AK-47 assault rifles as well as two empty ammunition magazines from within a smuggling vehicle By Jayson Chesler
LUKEVILLE, Ariz. -- Border Patrol officers found two AK-47 assault rifles during an outgoing inspection at the Port of Lukeville on Saturday, according to a press release.
Officers doing outgoing inspections referred Mario Munoz of Ajo, Arizona for additional inspection. During the inspection, officers found the two AK-47 rifles and two empty ammunition magazines within the car's dashboard.
The weapons, ammunition and car were processed for seizure. Munoz was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
