Paper to correct story on Arizona's London BridgePosted: Updated:
LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (AP) -- Lake Havasu City officials say a British tabloid plans to issue a correction for a story stating Arizona's own London Bridge could be bulldozed to make way for drug tourism.
The Today's News-Herald (http://bit.ly/1n4ioUx ) reports the correction will be published Monday, according to a letter sent to the city from The Sun's ombudsman.
Lake Havasu City Convention and Visitors Bureau CEO Doug Traub says The Sun also plans to send a reporter to the city for a follow-up piece.
The Sun had reported the bridge was cracking and the city planned to demolish it and turn the area into a haven for marijuana users called Hemped in Havasu.
City officials say the story was a slap in the face, particularly when more than $600,000 in bridge improvements are planned.
