CAMP VERDE, Ariz. – A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of an inmate who escaped from the Camp Verde jail Saturday afternoon.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, Wade Cole Dickinson, 28, was able to scale a wall in the recreation yard, separate overhead security fencing to access the roof and climb down to the ground.

He then ran across the parking area and tried to steal a small pickup truck parked outside a business in front of the jail. When the business owners went outside, Dickinson ran across Highway 260 and then east along Old Highway 279 and out of sight.

Dickinson was seen on Middle Verde Road in the area of Interstate 17 just before 11 p.m. Saturday, but a search was unsuccessful and ended late Sunday.

He was wearing a white button-up shirt, khaki pants and dirty dark socks. Sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said Dickinson has cuts on his legs, most likely from scaling a barbed wire fence.

YCSO cautions residents in the Camp Verde area to remain on alert as Dickinson does have acquaintances in the area.

Authorities said anyone who provides aid, support, concealment or hinders investigative efforts with knowledge Dickinson is a wanted fugitive could be arrested and charged criminally.

An internal review into the escape incident is underway.

Dickinson was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges including fraud schemes, theft, prohibited possession of a firearm and possession of dangerous drugs. He was facing a 24-year prison term.

Dickinson is described as white, 6 feet 1 inch tall, about 190 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about Dickinson's whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff's office at 928-771-3269, 911 or Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232.
