PHOENIX -- Our rather typical monsoon pattern is establishing itself over the Southwest. As a result, we'll have continued chances for rain each day this week.

Perhaps toward next weekend we'll see a slight reduction of storm, but we can't totally rule out thunderstorms any day over the next seven.

Monsoon moisture will persist this week, and each day will bring varying chances of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms across the region.

The favored area for storm formation through Wednesday will be across South-Central Arizona, with the potential for storm chances to spread westward back into Southeast California later in the week.

Any storm that forms will have the potential to produce brief heavy rainfall and strong gusty outflow winds. Based on the most current model runs, east and southeasterly steering flows will begin to expand westward into Arizona later this afternoon and evening.

But in the meantime, the flow aloft still remains rather weak and favoring the North. Similar to yesterday, expect thunderstorm complexes to form over northern and southeast portions of the state, with more widely scattered activity along the Rim Country and White Mountains.
