AHWATUKEE, Ariz. -- Folks in Ahwatukee don't have to wait for Independence Day for barbecue, fun and fireworks. They're getting things started a day early with the July 3rd "Red, White and Boom" celebration.
The Ahwatukee Country Club is the home for the festivities. 3TV's Tess Rafols stopped by the country club to talk with Anne Gill of the Ahwatukee Chamber of Commerce about the fireworks, kids zone and some other unique activities.
"We're kicking it off early, it's a great way to celebrate our Independence Day," Gill said. "It's a free event thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and also the community that help support this event. It's a 39 year tradition."
In addition to the more traditional bounce house, fireworks display and snow cones, there's also a unique twist courtesy of C2 Tactical Indoor Shooting Range. The range provided a pellet gun shooting range and an all-terrain vehicle for photo ops.
The event is going on from 5 - 10 p.m. on the 3rd and the fireworks display is at 9 p.m. For more information, visit the event's website.
