Woman injured after SUV goes into ditch, catches fire in Queen Creek

QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. -- A woman suffered life-threatening injuries after her SUV went into a ditch and caught fire Tuesday night.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, the woman's vehicle was northbound near Ellsworth and Germann roads in Queen Creek when it crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a work truck. The SUV was pushed into a ditch where it caught fire.

Sheriff's deputies were able to put out the fire and pull the 32-year-old woman out of the vehicle. She was the only occupant.

The woman was transported to Chandler Regional Medical Center.

At this time, it is unknown if impairment was a factor.

Detectives are investigating the incident.
