Valley restaurant launches pizza camp for kids

PEORIA, Ariz. -- Combining kids and pizza is almost always a recipe for success. Now, kids can learn how to make one of their favorite foods in a fun and air conditioned way to spend time this summer.

Humble Pie is offering a summer pizza camp for kids at their 83rd Avenue and Bell Road location. There, kids are given the basic ingredients and taught how to make a pizza, then they get to take care of the rest. Once the kids have made their creation, it's put in the oven and cooked so they can eat their own cooking.

3TV's Heidi Goitia talked to David Emran, a chef at Humble Pie, about the camp. Emran said that the pizza-making experience isn't just fun, it's also educational.

"We were just trying to think of a way that kids could get out of the sun and come over here and learn something during the summer," Emran said.

The kids at the camp seemed to agree with Emran, they all said that they were enjoying themselves.

Humble Pie's kids summer pizza camp takes place every Tuesday in July at Humble Pie. The camp costs $10 and the kids get a gift certificate for a free meal at the restaurant for attending.
