PHOENIX – Phoenix police have identified a suspect in a fatal shooting at a party early Sunday morning and are asking for the public's help to locate him.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson said the shooting happened when someone came to the door of Jacob Chavez's apartment near Indian School Road and 67th Avenue where the party was taking place.

Chavez, 22, opened the door and there was some kind of an altercation before he was shot and killed. The suspect fled the scene.

On Monday, Thompson said the suspect has been identified as Tomas Andrew Hernandez, 25. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Police have released two pictures of Hernandez and said his current appearance resembles the booking photo, but he is known to wear glasses similar to the ones in his older MVD photo.

Anyone with information concerning Hernandez's whereabouts is asked to call the Phoenix Police Department Violent Crimes Bureau at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS, 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.
