PHOENIX – Police have identified a suspect in last week's deadly shooting at a Phoenix park and are asking for the public's help in locating him.

Phoenix police said Jodon Martinez is a documented gang member and is considered armed and dangerous.

Martinez allegedly walked up to a group of people playing basketball at the park near 107th Avenue and Camelback Road Thursday night and opened fire.

Dershawn Stuard, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 14-year-old male was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump said Martinez had an ongoing dispute with the victims because they refused to join a gang.

Police have released a photo of Martinez and described him as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 140 pounds.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Phoenix Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
