Boy, 9, dies after apparent drowning at empty house in Yuma

YUMA, Ariz. – The Yuma Police Department is investigating the apparent drowning of a 9-year-old boy in a swimming pool at an empty house up for sale.

Officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of East 30th Place at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

The initial investigation revealed the boy was found unresponsive in the pool. He was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center and later pronounced dead.

The boy's name hasn't been released.
