PHOENIX -- The Valley will be mostly sunny and a bit breezy today with southwesterly winds up to 15 miles an hour.  The afternoon high will be a bit cooler than average near 103 degrees.

Today's slightly cooler weather will be short-lived as temperatures begin to climb this weekend and head into very hot territory next week.

This weekend, look for sunshine, lighter winds and afternoon highs near 107 degrees with overnight lows in the mid 80s.

As our "monsoon high" sets up over the four corners region by the middle of next week, we'll likely see monsoon moisture finally begin to be pulled up into the state from the south.  If we get enough of this moisture, we could start to see some storms by late next week.

In the meantime, temperatures will peak near 111-113 degrees next Tuesday through Thursday.
