MESA, Ariz. -- Firefighters battled a first-alarm fire at a Mesa trailer park Thursday afternoon.

Mesa and Gilbert fire crews were called to the trailer park near Main Street and Gilbert Road around 1:30 p.m., after a neighbor saw a downed powerline touching a home.

Capt. Forrest Smith of the Mesa Fire and Medical Department said there was a great deal of fire in the utility chase underneath the trailer.

The fire was balanced to a first alarm to protect nearby trailer homes and rotate firefighters working in triple-digit heat.

Smith said firefighters aggressively attacked the flames underneath the trailer and protected neighboring homes.

The trailer was unoccupied at the time.

No injuries were reported.
