BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) -- A man is in custody in connection with the fatal shooting of his father-in-law in Buckeye.

Maricopa County Sheriff's officials say 41-year-old Cory Robert Candler was booked into jail Tuesday night on suspicion of second-degree murder.

He's being held on a $500,000 bond and doesn't have a lawyer yet.

They say Candler called 911 to say he shot 69-year-old Mark Wells after an argument and a struggle over the gun.

Sheriff's deputies arrived at Wells' home and say they found the victim naked with a close-range gunshot wound to the head.

Candler told authorities that he tried to give Wells CPR.

But deputies say Wells' body was found in a posed position on the couch inconsistent with live-saving procedures and Candler had washed his hands and face before authorities arrived.
