PHOENIX -- Glendale police say they arrested a Phoenix police lieutenant in a prostitution sting Thursday.
Glendale police spokesman Sgt. Jay O'Neil said 51-year-old John Peter Geroulis made unwanted, nonconsensual contact with a Glendale detective during an undercover operation into human trafficking and prostitution.
O'Neil said Geroulis was arrested on charges of soliciting prostitution and sexual abuse.
Geroulis, a 25-year veteran of the department, retired effective Thursday, according to Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump. He worked in the patrol division and was stationed at the Maryvale Precinct.
O'Neil said he could not disclose the location of Geroulis' arrest or the nature of how the contact was initiated due to the ongoing nature of the operation.
