PHOENIX -- A 5-year-old girl was in very critical condition Thursday night after being pulled from a Phoenix swimming pool, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
It happened at an apartment complex in the area of 45th Avenue and McDowell Road.
According to the fire department, the girl was swimming in the pool with a number of other people and was supervised by an adult. The kids realized the girl had not resurfaced after a couple of minutes, and she was pulled from the water.
She had a pulse but was not breathing, according to the fire department.
She was given CPR and transported to Phoenix Children's Hospital.
A fire department spokesperson said the kids may have been playing a game to see who could hold their breath underwater the longest.
