SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Humane Society is unveiling Waggin' Wheels, a new way to get pets adopted wherever they need to go.

Waggin' Wheels is an air conditioned unit with 24 kennels inside and enough space for potential adopters to get on board and mingle with their future pet, according to a press release. The unit also has an area specifically designated as a "meet and greet space" that's intended for families and pets.

The mobile unit lets the AHS take pets throughout the Valley, including to more remote locations that might not have an adoption center nearby.

However, Waggin' Wheels doesn't have to go to remote areas. Its purpose is to get pets to people who want to adopt them, wherever that may be. The program is expected to lead to 600 more adoptions per year. The unit's summer mall tour should get it started toward that number.

The mobile unit will kick off a summer mall tour at Scottsdale Fashion Square on Saturday. More than 20 pets will be available for adoption and merchandise from Petique, AHS' store, will be available.

In addition to the summer tour that will take Waggin' Wheels to malls in the area, the mobile unit is also available for event booking. Event hosts can submit an application to the AHS and, if the event is a good fit, adoptable pets can now be at events around the Valley.

Waggin' Wheels will be at Scottsdale Fashion Square from 2:00-7:00 p.m. on June 21. For more information about the unit or the summer tour, visit AHS' Waggin' Wheels website.
