SACATON, Ariz. -- Gila River police say they have located and apprehended an inmate who escaped from custody Tuesday.

The manhunt for Francisco Gonzales ended around 6:30 p.m. Friday.

With assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, East Valley Task Force and Mesa Police Department, Gila River police tracked Gonzales and his girlfriend, Alyssa Antone, to a Phoenix location. They were arrested and booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail.

Police say Gonzales will face new charges for escape. He was already facing felony charges of aggravated assault and armed robbery.

Antone will face charges for allegedly helping Gonzales escape.

Police say Gonzales escaped from custody while at a scheduled medical appointment at Hu Hu Kam Hospital in Sacaton, which is on the Gila River Indian Community Reservation.

The police department's Criminal Investigations Bureau anticipates additional arrests as others are believed to have assisted Gonzales.
