PHOENIX -- Mostly sunny and breezy weather can be expected in the Valley today with a high of about 107 degrees. Winds are expected to pick up out of the southwest this afternoon to between 10 and 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

There is a Red Flag Warning and Wind Advisory today for the high country and a Fire Weather Watch for the area tomorrow.  It will be windy and dry across the state today. There is some moisture working its way into the state from the south and that will bring a chance of thunderstorms to mainly Eastern and Southeastern Arizona.  However, rain chances are slim and these high-based thunderstorms would more likely bring gusty outflow winds and dry lightning, further increasing the wildfire threat.

Temperatures come down a bit for the Valley over the weekend and into next week to around 104 degrees, which is pretty close to average for this time of year.  Monsoon season starts Sunday, but no sign of storms for most of the state anytime soon.
