SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Authorities have not yet been able to identify the three people found dead in a burned vehicle on Monday, according to Sgt. Mike Donovan with the Surprise Police Dept.

The case remains classified as an arson and death of three individuals by suspicious circumstances.

Sgt. Donovan said the case will remain classified that way until the Medical Examiner determines a cause of death.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, but due to the condition of the bodies, a cause of death may not be immediately determined.

Police received a call at 2:45 Monday about a vehicle on fire in the area of 219th Avenue and Sun Valley Parkway.

After the fire was extinguished, the vehicle was initially too hot to start the investigation. Later, police said three bodies were found in the burned-out truck.
