APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. -- A mobile home fire claimed the life of an Apache Junction woman Saturday night.

Investigators said the fire started in an unoccupied bedroom of the single-wide mobile home near Broadway Avenue and Ironwood Drive.

The victim, a 63-year-old woman, was found in the hallway near the back door.

Investigators think the fire smoldered for some time before it generated enough smoke to be seen from the outside.

The woman lived alone in the home. Her dog survived the fire and is being care for at an animal shelter.
