Phoenix man drowns at Salt River after jumping off cliff

MESA, Ariz. -- The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has recovered the body of a 21-year old Phoenix man who drowned at the Salt River on Saturday.
Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Officer Chris Hegstrom said Jwan Frazier was tubing down the Salt River when witnesses said he decided to jump into the water from Mud Cliffs approximately 15 feet high.
After jumping into the water, he resurfaced but appeared to be struggling. Friends attempted to help the victim and he never resurfaced.
The victim’s body was recovered just before 6 p.m. in 8 feet of water.
