TEMPE, Ariz. -- Police say a 33-year-old woman was found dead inside her Tempe apartment Thursday evening, and her young son may have been with her corpse for days.

Police received a 911 call around 5:30 p.m. from a man saying he found his friend dead inside her home near Southern and Mill avenues.

The man told police he had not been able to reach Breanna Malinsky for days so he went over to her apartment, according to Lt. Mike Pooley.

He saw the back patio door open and when he called out to his friend, her 4-year-old autistic son came to the door.

He found Malinsky lying on her bed and tried to wake her. He realized she was deceased and called police.

Pooley said it appeared the woman was dead for several days, but police do not suspect foul play.

The child is in good health and staying with family, according to Pooley.
