SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – A former Gilbert school bus driver who was viewing pornography on a computer in a Scottsdale public library may have also been downloading child pornography, according to police.

Murat Alev, 60, was arrested in April for furnishing obscene materials to minors. As part of his release, he was not allowed to access computers or the Internet.

According to court documents, Alev's court-ordered ankle monitoring device showed he had been at the Mustang Library for six hours and his probation officer had gone to the library where she observed what she believed were sexually explicit images on the computer monitor.

A police detective arrived and asked Alev about his activity at the library. According to court records, Alev gave the detective a thumb drive and said he had downloaded hundreds of images of young naked girls from the Internet.

Alev was arrested Tuesday night at his Gilbert home for violating his release conditions. Police said follow-up will be conducted on the thumb drive and future charges are possible.

Police are trying to determine if any of the naked girls in pictures are minors.

A spokeswoman for Gilbert Public School said Alev is no longer with the district, as of May 13.
