PHOENIX -- A Valley man is proving that hard work and patience pay off when it comes to making your dreams a reality.

Todd McQueen was reading a children's book to his daughter and thought he'd like to write a book, too. But he had no idea how hard that would actually be.

He says the title of his book, "Bob & Rob & Corn on the Cob," came to him in the shower and he couldn't get that idea out of his head. So he began writing.

Rejections and rewrites from editors and publishers kept him working on the project -- a labor of love -- for seven years.

McQueen says the hard work was worth it.

The book about two squirrels who love corn on the cob came out this past month.

McQueen is proud of his book, which is meant for kids between 3 and 6, and says his children love showing it off to their friends, too.

McQueen also illustrated the colorful book, which is available at some local bookstores, including Barnes and Noble, and also at amazon.com.
