PHOENIX -- A central Phoenix apartment complex undergoing renovations was damaged in a fire early Sunday morning.

Firefighters were called to Place One Apartments on Seventh Street near Glendale Avenue about 3 a.m.

"We had two aerial ladders set up for a defensive position," Phoenix Fire Capt. Tony Mure said. "We did cut holes in the roof to channel the smoke to help control the fire. Fortunately, no one was injured."

Firefighters say the fire may have started in the office of the two-story complex.

The cause is under investigation.
