CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Police say a 20-year-old man was shot by his father at their Chandler home Saturday.
It happened near Cooper and Ocotillo roads.
Police spokesman Det. Seth Tyler said the man called 911 reporting that he had been shot by his father and was found with a non-life-threatening wound.
"We're very early in this investigation," Tyler said. "There was some type of argument which led to some type of physical altercation, which in turn led to the shooting."
The man was taken to a local hospital and his 56-year-old father was taken into custody.
"The father exited the residence on his own and essentially surrendered on his own without any incident," Tyler said.
The son lives at the home with his father and mother, according to Tyler.
Tyler was not sure how many shots were fired but said the son had only one wound.
"At this point, the shooter could be facing an aggravated assault charge at the very least and that would fall under the domestic violence category, but we're very early on in the investigation. We're trying to piece through this and figure out exactly what happened," Tyler said.
