PALM DESERT, Calif. -- Magia, a 4-year-old jaguar, recently gave birth to two cubs at the Southern California zoo, the Living Desert. Zookeepers say this is the first jaguar birth at the facility.

According to the zoo, Magia will be temporarily moved in the coming weeks so that zookeepers can assess the weight and sex of the cubs. Afterwards, the two cubs will be removed for a comprehensive medical examination and vaccinations.

Zoo officials say they are being very cautious with this 'first time' mother and want to give her the time she needs before we allow staff near.
