Chef Roc brings Flavor Tour to Scottsdale, hosts throw-down

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Dietz & Watson is celebrating 75 years and four generations of 'Quality Above All Else' with a Flavor Tour throughout America.  The Dietz & Watson Four Generations of Flavor Tour features Celebrity chef Steve 'Chef Roc' Cassarino aboard Dietz & Watson's Food Truck, which kicked off on April 17 in Houston, Texas.  The truck will roll into Scottsdale on Saturday, May 31 to treat Food Truck Caravaner's to free delicious recipes using Dietz & Watson's Premium Meats & Artisan Cheeses, family-friendly games, and prizes!

Caravener's can see the Dietz & Watson Truck, Saturday, May 31 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Scottsdale Food Truck Caravan on Fifth Avenue and Goldwater.  As part of the evening celebration, Dietz & Watson will supply meats and cheese to all eight trucks on the lot to compete in the first-ever People's Choice Throw Down. Participating trucks will have 30 minutes to create the best dish they can with the supplied Dietz & Watson ingredients.  The audience will vote on the best dish to choose a winner.  The winner will receive Dietz & Watson product, as well as a trophy and magnetic plaque for their truck. 

The following trucks will compete in the first-ever Dietz & Watson People's Choice Throw Down: Aiolio Burger, Frank's, Saffron JAK Original Stonebread Pizza, Queso Good, Grilled Addiction, SuperFarm SuperTruck, Grilled Cheese Truck, Sweet Magnolia and Spice it Up!

"We're really excited about the first ever People's Choice Throw Down competition," said Lori Baker, event organizer.  "We wanted to connect the trucks and community to Dietz & Watson and this is a fun way to bring everyone together.  Dietz & Watson's philosophy is similar to the Food Truck Caravan.  We're both focused on community, healthy living and families."

The Flavor Tour will travel America over the next seven months.  Celebrity chef" Steve 'Chef Roc' Cassarino who is known around the world as one of The Clever Cleaver Brothers will serve as the Chef aboard the Dietz & Watson Flavor Tour Food Truck. 

Dietz & Watson Black Forest Ham and Pepper Jack Pasta
Recipe developed by Chef Roc

1 tablespoon Olive Oil
½ cup diced onions
2 cups of diced Dietz & Watson Black Forest Ham
4 cups of cooked penne pasta
1 pint of whipping cream
1 tablespoon of minced chipotle peppers (available in a can)
1 cup of shredded Dietz & Watson Pepper Jack Cheese
1 cup diced roma tomatoes
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro

Heat a large sauté pan on medium heat, add oil.

Place in the onions and the ham and heat for 1 minute.

Add the pasta and combine.

Add the whipping cream and chipotle pepper paste and combine.

Add the shredded cheese.

Bring the dish to a low boil to reduce the sauce until it is slightly thickened.

Add the tomatoes and cilantro, combine and serve.
