PHOENIX -- Afternoon temperatures are about to soar across the Valley today and tomorrow as we are forecast to see our warmest days of the year so far.
As high pressure sets up across the Southwest, the Valley will see temperatures peak near 106 degrees today and 107 degrees tomorrow, which is about 10 degrees above normal for this time of year.
Overnight lows will only cool to the mid 70s to low 80s around town.
On Thursday, a low-pressure system is forecast to interact with subtropical moisture streaming north from Hurricane Amanda. That sets up an unstable atmosphere over Arizona that will lead to a chance of showers and thunderstorms, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.
The Valley has a 20 percent chance of storms both Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will also be a bit cooler in the upper 90s.
Temperatures look to warm up over the weekend with lots of sunshine expected.
