PHOENIX -- After a week of below-average temperatures, the mercury is about to climb pretty high in the Valley. Phoenix will see highs this afternoon near 104 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
The record high for today's date is 106 degrees and the average high is 95 degrees.
Overnight lows drop to the 70s.
The heat doesn't ease up much over the weekend ahead. Under a dome of high pressure, we'll watch temperatures climb to 103 tomorrow and 101 on Sunday. Mostly sunny skies are expected Saturday, while Sunday will bring a bit more cloud cover and breezy weather.
On Monday and Tuesday, winds pick up and temperatures drop. A dry cold front will move through Arizona and bring us back to the 90s for the start of next week.
