SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. – A San Tan Valley man has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing two young girls.

Jorge Molina, 27, was sentenced Monday afternoon in Pinal County.

A spokesman with the Pinal County Attorney's office said after a three-day trial in April, the 12-person jury deliberated for 20 minutes before finding him guilty of two counts of child molestation and two counts of sexual conduct with a minor.

Authorities said Molina sexually abused the children, ages 5 and 8, for more than a year.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office began an investigation in January 2013 after the girls told an adult about what they believed was inappropriate behavior.

"My office began by believing in these five- and eight-year-old little girls and, with this defendant's prison sentence, neither they nor any other child need to live their lives in fear of him," Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles said in a news release.
