PHOENIX -- You can save money on more than groceries when you go to Fry's. You can also save money on gas.

Coupon expert Mindy Villone says buying gifts cards is the key. Fry's offers double fuel points for all of its gifts cards. That means a $50 gift card to a restaurant or store gets you 100 fuel points. For every 100 points you earn, you get $0.10 of per gallon of gas up to 35 gallons. The savings can add up.

The only gift cards not eligible for the double gas points are Fry's and Kroger cards and prepaid reloadable cards. Everything else is fair game.

Villone says if she knows she needs to hit The Home Depot, she'll buy a $100 gift card at Fry's. That gets her 200 points -- $0.20 off per gallon of gas.

The max savings per visit to the gas station is $1 per gallon.

You can redeem your points at Fry's Fuels Centers, as well as at participating Shell or Circle K stations.

To find your nearest redemption location, visit the Fry's store locator, or for a current list of participating Shell or Circle K Stations in your area call 1-888-GO-SHELL (1-888-467-4355) and press “0” to speak with a Shell representative.
