FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Flagstaff hazmat crews were called Tuesday after a person who was exposed to an unknown substance began having flu-like symptoms, according to Flagstaff Fire Capt. Matt Turner.
About 2 p.m., the Flagstaff Fire Department received information that the person was en route to Flagstaff Medical Center by personal vehicle. The person was reportedly exposed to the substance about two days earlier and wanted to be checked out.
Turner said four special operations units staffed with hazardous materials technicians and a battalion chief responded.
The substance tested negative for hazardous materials and was turned over to law enforcement officials, Turner said.
The person was treated by Flagstaff Medical Center staff.
