Border Patrol seizes 434 pounds of abandoned pot

WELLTON, Ariz. -- Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents seized 434 pounds of abandoned marijuana Tuesday.

Wellton Station agents assigned to the All-Terrain Vehicle Unit were backtracking footprints when they found 10 makeshift backpacks containing marijuana, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Authorities estimated the marijuana is worth a total of $217,000.

No suspects were found during a search of the area.
