TEMPE, Ariz. – Tempe police detectives have arrested a man accused of buying and selling stolen bicycles.

Police received information that Rey Genaro Aguilar, 46, was purchasing and then selling stolen bicycles, many of which were being transported to Mexico.

Sgt. Mike Pooley said detectives served a search warrant at Aguilar's home Tuesday and found more than 50 bikes and bicycle parts.

Aguilar reportedly told police that he purchased approximately 20 bicycles a week for $15 to $100 each, knowing that they were probably stolen.

Aguilar was arrested for trafficking in stolen property.

Pooley said many of the owners of the recovered bicycles have not been identified and many of the bikes have not yet been reported as stolen.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tempe Police Department.
