PHOENIX (AP) -- The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says a female inmate is back in custody after escaping.

The Sheriff's Office says 32-year-old Roberta Gavina walked out of the Lower Buckeye Jail in Phoenix on Thursday before she was to be taken to a Glendale court for an appearance on shoplifting charges.

She was located at a house where her boyfriend's aunt lives near 52nd ave and Camelback Road.

Gavina was facing misdemeanor charges but is now facing felony second-degree escape charges.
