GLENDALE, Ariz. -- A 43-year-old Glendale woman died after she was hit by a car while jogging on Beardsley Road just east of 75th Avenue Friday morning.

Glendale police Officer Tracey J. Breeden said Alisha Church and another woman were jogging eastbound in the roadway on the south side of Beardsley Road at approximately 5:20 a.m. A gray four-door sedan approached from behind and struck Church.

The 42-year-old male driver from Peoria remained at the scene until police arrived.

Church was treated at the scene and transported by air to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The other jogger, a 44-year-old Peoria resident, was not struck.

Investigators have yet to determine if impairment or distraction were factors in the collision, but they do not believe speed was a factor.
