Gasoline prices in Arizona hit 8-month highPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Gas prices in Arizona are still climbing, reaching an 8-month high this week as the summer gas season hits the country.
The average price of a gallon of unleaded gas cost almost $3.51, according to AAA Arizona, an increase of 2.6 cents. The national average climbed just a fraction of a penny, holding at $3.69 per gallon.
"Though Arizona fuel prices have continued to inch up this week, gas prices across some parts of the country have started to slow," Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona, said in a statement.
"However, this could be an indicator that price stabilization for Arizona is around the corner. At this point, it's too soon to tell whether or not prices will peak prior to Memorial Day weekend."
Tucson had the lowest price in Arizona with an average of $3.37 per gallon, according to AAA Arizona while Flagstaff had the highest average of $3.68.
Montana had the lowest average among the lower 48 states at $3.39 per gallon, and California had the highest at $4.26.
