Work in the cosmetic & laser industry in just two weeksPosted: Updated:
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.-- Thinking about a career change? The cosmetic & laser industry is a billion dollar industry, and you can be a part of it in as little as two weeks.
Jobs in this field have been rated some of the hottest jobs for 2014. On Wednesday's Good Morning America, Javier Soto found out what you need to know about this career.
Louis Silberman founded the National Laser Institute more than a decade ago. "We started the first laser and cosmetic training institute right here in Scottsdale," he says. "Now fast-forward ten years later, we're training over 200 attendees a month. They fly in from all over the world to learn how to safely and effectively use cosmetic lasers."
Silberman says you can be up and running in the field in just two weeks. "The first week is classroom education," he tells us. "It's about safety, safety, safety. Anybody can do this. You don't need a health or beauty background. It's five days of classroom education, and ten days of clinical. Every day, you're treating paying customers while being supervised by instructors who have been in the business for years."
It can be a great opportunity for those looking for a change in careers. "It has changed my life for the better," says Cass Lounsbury, a cosmetic and laser technician. "It's letting me do what I absolutely love. I work in the Med Spa. I do laser hair removal. I work with radio frequency. I treat clients non-stop."
"I think the course was amazing," says Ali Hodges, also a laser tech. "It definitely gave me the knowledge and the information and the confidence to do what I needed to do."
