San Luis Olympic torch run
The Torch Run starts at 8 a.m. in San Luis, as the U.S. takes the torch from the Mexican authorities.
Grand Avenue and Bell Road
A public hearing about the future of the busy intersection of Grand Avenue (US 60) and Bell Road in Surprise will be held on Wednesday, April 30, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Community members will be able to comment on proposals for the intersection being evaluated as part of an environmental study ADOT plans to complete later this year. The hearing will be held today, 3:30 p.m.-7 p.m. in Sun City Grand Sonoran Plaza, 19753 N. Remington Drive Surprise, Arizona.
Arizona Autism Charter School
The first Arizona Autism Charter School will open in Phoenix this fall. A ribbon cutting will be held today. The school, which is currently enrolling, has space for 90 students. Phoenix's first lady, Nicole Stanton, will speak and do the honors of cutting the ribbon to welcome this new school and resource center for families living with autism into the community. 2nd Annual Police Memorial Service
The Phoenix Police Department will present the Second Annual Phoenix Police Memorial Service in remembrance of our fallen officers and the sacrifice they made. The service will begin at 6 p.m. in the atrium of City Hall where, among other events, a proclamation from the mayor will be read.
