PHOENIX -- Police need your help to find the driver who hit and killed a woman and then fled the scene.

It happened at about 10 p.m. Monday near 33rd Avenue and Indian School Road.

A 50-year-old was walking in the area when a vehicle struck her, then fled. The victim died at the scene. Investigators said they have identified her, but they are not releasing that information at this point.

It's not clear whether the woman was in the crosswalk.

Even after talking to witnesses, investigators have very little to go on.

Detectives believe the vehicle that hit the woman is a newer white Chevy crew-cab pickup truck, but they do not have any other information.

They ask anyone with information about the vehicle or driver involved to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 1-800343-TIPS (8477). Spanish speakers may call 480-TESTIGO (837-8446).

Police consistently say that information from the community can be essential when it comes to solving a case like this. Small, seemingly insignificant details can be the break investigators need.

Indian School Road was closed between 31st and 35th avenues for several hours, but has since reopened.
