PHOENIX -- Police in Phoenix have made an arrest in the death of a 26-year-old woman. Sgt. Steve Martos says 27-year-old James Calderon was booked Saturday afternoon in the killing of Bria Helpley. Martos says Calderon's 46-year-old mother, Sandra Calderon, has been arrested for hindering prosecution after allegedly attempting to destroy evidence. Police say Helpley and James Calderon got into some kind of altercation near Monroe and 14th streets just before 7 a.m. Saturday. Martos said Helpley was shot. Police say James Calderon fled the scene and officers stopped his mother from getting rid of evidence.Police were seeking two male suspects Saturday, but Martos said the other man was found and not charged.
