PHOENIX -- A Phoenix woman claimed a winning lottery ticket Monday worth $1 million, according to the state lottery.
A spokesperson for the Arizona Lottery said in a statement that Alice Lewis, a caregiver, redeemed her winning scratcher ticket after buying it from Fry’s grocery store on 520 E. Baseline Road in Phoenix. Lewis scratched the ticket in her car, then immediately returned to the store to have it inspected by a clerk.
Lewis plans to invest the winnings for when she retires in a year, the statement said.
The ticket was sold as part of the Million Dollar Cash Bonanza Scratchers. Karen Bach, a director for the Arizona Lottery, said in the statement that a second $1 million ticket in the promotion has not been redeemed.
