April's Ten Under $10 Beauty Product Picks & Pans
by:  Rachel Harris, Managedmoms.com

To help keep you on your beauty budget, here are my monthly ten under $10 drug store beauty picks (and one pan) for the month of April.  From head to toe, here we go...

Hair Help:
*Remington Head Wrap ($5 at Target) -- Several of the thin and glittery head wraps by Remington are so pretty that they can be worn as a simple headband or added to an updo for a nice accent piece and the $5 price tag is nice, too.   The wider and stylish head wraps are also $5 and look great paired with a summer maxi dress style.
*Remington Hair Clips ($6 at Target for a set) -- This set gives you the typical bobby pins, but you also get two decorative black rhinestone pins for a dressy hair style.  Since we are in the season where hair goes up and back to stay cool, this set is perfect for a night and day style.
*Conair Lift & Style Hair Lifting Comb ($4.49 at Walgreens) -- It is amazing how much more volume your hair can have with the right teasing tool and Conair has several varieties out that do it well.  I also like this comb because it works well and the teeth are strong and hold up without breaking  the time times that I like to do the heavy duty teasing for a night out on the town.

Lash Love:
*Maybelline Volume Express Pumped UP! Colossal Mascara ($6.99 at Walgreens) -- New from Maybelline and if you like a fat wand, then you will like this wide mascara brush that also sports a curved stem that enables the user to grab a big dose of the collagen enhanced mascara. Although the brush is big, it is tapered in just the right way to not to be too bulky and the mascara definitely volumizes lashes.  I give this one a big thumbs up!

Face Faves:
*Maybelline Green Cover Stick Concealer ($6.99 at Walgreens) -- Although this looks strange since the stick is green, the idea is that green covers red the best and I found this to be true when it came to covering red areas on my face.  So although it looks odd in the package, it looked good on my skin and did the job of concealing any red areas that I wanted to hide.
*Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 15 ($7.99 at drug stores) -- This moisturizer gives us the daily facial sun protection we need living here in the Valley of the Sun.  The Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer provides all day hydration plus SPF 15 broad spectrum UVA and UVB sun protection that helps to protect against premature skin damage.  Beneficial ingredients include Vitamins E, B3 and C plus antioxidants, so give this one a try if you are looking for a good daily moisturizer.

Breath Saver:
*Scope Outlast To Go! Mouthwash ($2.99 at grocery stores) -- For three bucks, you get four cute little mini mouthwash to go bottles, which is great for summer travel and being on the run.  I also like the long lasting mint scent, so this is a useful on the go beauty product.

Skin Solutions:
*Aveeno Active Naturals Skin Relief Overnight Cream ($9.99 at Walgreens) -- Thankfully my girl has outgrown the severe Eczema she used to suffer from as a small child, so when we needed it, this stuff was a lifesaver at night when she would scratch in her sleep.  When the weather gets extremely dry with our high temperatures here in the desert, I sometimes wake up itching, so this dermatologist formula has given me relief, too. This lotion is also free of fragrance and steroids, which makes me happy!

Lovely Legs:
*Aveeno Positively Smooth Shave Gel ($5.49 at Walgreens) -- This stuff works great for me and for my tween daughter who is new to shaving.  It truly does prevent nicks and cuts and is lightly fragranced with soy so that it isn't overbearing with a strong perfumy odor.  It dispenses out just the right amount and leaves our skin silky smooth after shaving.  We are big fans of this shaving cream.

Only One Reject:
Of the 10 beauty products that I tested for this month's Ten Under $10, only one left me disappointed and that is the Mia TonyTail Ponytail Wrap that sells for $6.48.  As soon as I tested it once, it started to unravel and the neatly gathered fake hair for a ponytail wrap didn't stay so neat after all.  Too bad because I was really hoping this one would work as I love that look, but I guess I will go back to wrapping my own hair around the ponytail and securing it with good ol' bobby pins.
