BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities say a dead body has been found along a road in Buckeye and it appears to be a homicide case.

Maricopa County Sheriff's officials say the body of a man was found Wednesday afternoon.

They say a sleeping bag was draped over the body, which carried no identification.

Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Brandon Jones the body has since been identified as Mark Meginley, 51.

Jones says investigators are confident that the death is not a suicide and it looks like foul play is involved. While the cause of death has not been determined, detectives are treating this as a homicide.

Authorities are checking on reports that some people in the area say they saw the body being thrown from a car.
